Pastor  Darron Thompson

Darron Thompson was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. He made a personal profession of faith in Christ as his Savior and Lord at the age of thirteen. It was also at this age, that Darron began to discover and enjoy his musical gift of being a drummer.

Throughout his years of being a musician, Darron developed a gift that allowed him to travel the world and share the stage with some of the industry best artists and musicians. While being faithful to his musical gift, he felt the Lord had a calling on his life to do much more… Preach!

After graduating from High School, Darron attended the Baptist Brotherhood Bible Institute for a year. In August 1997, he preached his trial sermon at the Union Baptist Church in South River, N.J. where Barron O. Wilson served as Pastor. Under Pastor Wilson’s leadership, Darron was guided and instructed on the fundamentals of expository preaching. In April of 1999, the Lord saw fit through the direction of his Pastor to ordain him for the Gospel Ministry. This experience gave him the opportunity to share the Word of God, both within and beyond the Union Baptist Church, and it also helped him to progressively develop in preaching and teaching. In 2000, the Lord moved Pastor Wilson to the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Jersey City, NJ, and because of his love for truth and for his Pastor, Darron joined the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church that same year. While serving at Mt. Calvary, he was appointed Minister of Music and Youth Pastor.

On August 2, 2002, he married the love of his life, the former Tiffany Wilson. They are the proud parents of Brandon, Destiny, Kendall, Devante and Diamond.

In 2007, Pastor Wilson appointed Darron as the Assistant Pastor of the Mt. Calvary where he faithfully served God, his Pastor and the entire Mt. Calvary Church family.

Because of God’s grace, on November 18th, 2008 the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, Jersey City, NJ ended their search for a Pastor and unanimously called Darron as Pastor. He faithfully served Ebenezer for 11 years.

On February 1, 2020, Greater New Point Missionary Baptist Church of Irvington, NJ ended their search for the next pastor and unanimously voted Darron as pastor. Darron accepted the call prayerfully to be the next under shepherd of Greater New Point.

Darron’s favorite quote ~ “We must learn how to relinquish our will over to God and receive His will for our life!”
